Australia's premier primary health care forum
"Transforming for success" - Building on strengths, embracing partnerships.
Held Wednesday 16 to Saturday 19 November 2011
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
The 2011 AGPN National Forum – Australia’s premier primary health care forum – was staged at a crucial time in the reform of the nation’s health system. The first Primary Health Care Organisations (PHCOs) or Medicare Locals was up and running, and the successful applicants for the second and third tranches were known. The General Practice Network was well advanced in transitioning, and working with other partners who are key to effective reform.
This 2011 Forum was titled “Transforming for success” – Building on strengths, embracing partnerships. The Forum theme of “Transforming for success” describes what AGPN aimed to do through the reform period. The tagline – Building on strengths, embracing partnerships – emphasises that the new primary health care system builds on almost 20 years of achievements by the general practice network and the central role of GPs in ensuring success. It also reflected the need to forge meaningful partnerships to ensure improved access for individuals and the community to a more connected health system.
